Privacy notice
Last updated 23 August 2026
This notice explains what Kwizzle.live collects, why, how long it is kept and how to have it erased.
Who is responsible
Kwizzle.live is operated by Robert Nicoll, the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at rob_nicoll@yahoo.co.uk.
Two kinds of people use Kwizzle.live
The distinction matters, because we hold very different things about each.
- Hosts sign in with a Google account, build quizzes and run games.
- Players join a game with a PIN and a nickname. Players never sign in and never create an account.
What we collect about hosts
When you sign in with Google, Google confirms who you are and passes us a limited profile. We never see or store your password.
| Data | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Name, email address, profile picture | Your Google account |
| An opaque account identifier | Google — it identifies you to us without revealing anything else |
| When you first signed in, and last used the site | Recorded by us |
| Your quizzes, saved packs and folders | Created by you |
| A count of AI quiz generations | Recorded by us, to enforce a monthly limit |
What we collect about players
When a host finishes a game, a report is saved to that host's account. It contains:
- the nickname each player typed when joining;
- what each player answered on each question, how quickly, and their score;
- a summary that flags, by nickname, which players answered fewest questions correctly and which did not finish.
A note for hosts. If your players type their real names as nicknames, that report becomes a record of named individuals and how well each performed. If you would rather it did not, ask players to join under a nickname that is not their name. That choice is yours, and the software cannot make it for you.
We do not collect players' email addresses, accounts or contact details, because we never ask for them.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- Host accounts — to provide the service you asked for when you signed in. Without it there is nowhere to keep your quizzes.
- Game reports — our legitimate interest, and the host's, in showing how a game went so it can be used for teaching or review.
- Site password and session cookies — necessary to keep the site secure and to keep you signed in.
How long we keep it
| What | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Game reports, including player nicknames and answers | 365 days, then deleted automatically |
| Your account, quizzes and saved packs | Until you delete your account |
| Sign-in sessions | Until they expire, or you sign out |
| Record of administrative actions | 2 years, then deleted |
| Visitor counting codes | 60 days, then deleted |
| Days you were active | 400 days, then deleted |
| Numbers about finished games | Kept; disconnected from you if you delete your account |
| Uploaded quiz images | Until you remove them, or you delete your account |
The report limit is enforced by the server on a timer, not by anyone remembering to do it.
Who else handles it
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| Render | Hosts the site and the database. Servers are in the United States, so data is transferred outside the UK and EEA. |
| Authenticates hosts who sign in. Google's own privacy policy applies to that step. | |
| OpenAI | Generates draft quiz questions, when a host asks it to. Only the topic and answer options are ever sent — never player names, reports or game data. |
| Pixabay | Supplies stock images a host can search for. Searches are sent; your account is not. |
We do not sell anything to anyone, and we run no advertising or analytics trackers.
How we measure the site
We keep two counts so we can tell whether the app is working and worth running.
Finished games. When a game ends we record numbers about it: how many people were in the room, how many questions and mini-games it had, when it started and finished, and which account hosted it. No quiz title and nothing any player typed or answered. If the host later deletes their account, the game stays as a number and stops being connected to anyone.
Days you were active. If you are signed in and do anything on a given day, we record that the day happened — nothing about what you did, and no more than once a day however much you use it. We keep this for 400 days. We do not measure how long you spend in the app.
Who can see your account
Kwizzle.live has an administration screen used to keep the service running: to see how busy the site is, to spot an account causing problems, and to act on a request from someone who wants their data removed.
Email addresses are hidden on that screen by default. They are shown as r•••••••l@example.com. Looking at how the site is being used does not need anybody’s address, so it does not show one. If you write to us asking to be deleted, your address can be matched without being displayed.
An address can be revealed one at a time when there is a reason to, and every time that happens it is recorded — who looked, at which account, and when.
Administrative actions — suspending an account, deleting one, revealing an address — are written to a record that is kept for two years and then deleted. That record is deliberately kept even after an account is deleted, so that there is always an answer to who did what; it holds the address in the same masked form.
Visitor numbers are counted without identifying anyone. No IP address is stored. A visit is counted using a code that is scrambled afresh each day, so the same person on two different days cannot be connected — not even by us. Those codes are deleted after 60 days.
Cookies
Kwizzle.live sets two cookies, both strictly necessary and neither used for tracking:
- a site access cookie, remembering that the site password was entered correctly;
- a session cookie, keeping a signed-in host signed in.
There are no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. That is why you are not being asked to accept any.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or object to that use. To exercise any of these, contact rob_nicoll@yahoo.co.uk.
Taking your data with you. Signed-in hosts can download everything we hold about them: open the account menu and choose Download my data. It arrives as a single file containing your profile, quizzes, saved packs, folders, game reports, uploads, AI usage and the days you were active.
Deleting your account. Signed-in hosts can do this immediately: open the account menu in the top corner and choose Delete account. This erases your account, quizzes, saved packs, folders, reports, sessions and any images you uploaded. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
Players: if you played a game and want your nickname and answers removed from a report, ask the host who ran it — the report belongs to their account and they can delete it. You can also contact us at the address above.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Kwizzle.live is built for a host to run games for a room of people, and those people may be children in a classroom. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child beyond the nickname they type and their answers in a game a responsible adult chose to run. If you are a parent or teacher and want a report removed, contact rob_nicoll@yahoo.co.uk and it will be deleted.
